Noble Prize in Health for 2016 - Autophagy

Our newsletters will have a different, hopefully more usable, format for 2019. We'll continue to bring you great information to help you improve your health and live your life more fully and with maximum pleasure. But this year we'll keep each newsletter to a short paragraph about the key discoveries, advances and information in the health arena. These are snippets to help you become better aware of the leading edge information that can improve your health and happiness. After reading you can choose to 1. Do nothing more (which is absolutely fine), 2. Research further yourself or 3. Reach out to us for additional guidance and support. ... ok, so that's the introduction, now onto the paragraph ....

The Noble Prize in Health for 2016 was awarded to the person that discovered a process of cells 'self eating' called Autophagy. During the fasting state (not eating) cells begin to break down proteins and other components of themselves and reuse them for energy. Once your cells enter this state they begin to effectively eat themselves ... but very interestingly (and this makes sense) the strongest, healthy cells begin to eat the damaged and unhealthy cells. This is the body's cleaning out mechanism. Think of it as spring cleaning - the healthy cells of your body eat and get rid of the unhealthy cells. The benefits of Autophagy are numerous and massively important for your health: anti-aging as your own body is cleaning out the older, damaged, aging cells. Detoxing - any toxic, damaged cells will be cleaned out before the healthy cells. Greater energy as Autophagy cleans up your mitochondria - the energy powerhouses of your body. Helps us to fight infectious diseases - keep this in mind as years go on and anti-biotic resistant bacteria become a bigger problem for us all. Improves muscle performance - by breaking down the damaged parts of the muscle ready for new healthy growth. Improves the skin, your digestive health and can help to prevent the onset of cancer. The process of Autophagy really kicks in at about 12 to 16 hours of fasting and then drops after about 2 days. Intermittent fasting of 12 to 16 hours per day or 1 or 2 days per week (consecutively or spread throughout the week) are perfect to activate Autophagy and really reap it's benefits for your health and your life.

Please remember that, if you need support, guidance, recipe ideas or assistance making healthy changes for yourself and your family that we are here to help. The work we do at Life and Thrive does not take away from your life but enhances it and makes you feel great !

At Life & Thrive we can help you to gain better health by guiding and supporting you, we can test your heavy metal, vitamin and mineral levels via our simple, non-invasive hair analysis and we can also test your gut health, hormone levels and more via specialized Genova diagnostic testing. For the hair analysis we use hair on your head, or elsewhere on your body if hair on the head is not available. We work with an excellent lab in the UK to provide this test locally for our clients. This test is suitable for both adults and children as it is entirely painless and non-invasive.

At Life & Thrive we have a nutritionist with extensive heavy metal experience and an Integrative and Functional medical doctor as part of our practice to help ensure any changes you make to your health or any detox you do is carried out as safely and effectively as possible.
